Colquímica Adhesives was one of the organizations granted with a Tribute from the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal, recognizing the company’s contribution for the strengthening of the business relationships between Portugal and the United States of America (USA). The award was delivered to Colquímica Adhesives’ CEO, João Pedro Koehler, within the American Chamber of Commerce Tributes Dinner, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the association. The gala was chaired by the Portuguese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, the Chargé d`Affaires of the American Embassy in Lisbon, Kristin Kane, and the president of the American Chamber of Commerce, António Martins da Costa. Colquímica Adhesives was one of the four prestigious organizations awarded with this remarkable recognition, together with EDP, Google and Marriott Hotel. The company’s investment in the opening of a new branch in Charllote, NC, was the motto for the prize. Colquímica Adhesives invested $12 million in this new industrial plant, the first on U.S. soil. The 100,000 square foot industrial complex was under construction for around a year and was launched in March, while all the world was dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts. The fourth plant of the Portuguese company aimed to increase its production capacity by 20% and to provide a closer service to U.S. customers and partners. The determination and resilience to surpass all the unprecedent challenges to this project, together with the creation of dozens of jobs in Charlotte, were the reasons behind the recognition by the American Chamber of Commerce. João Pedro Koehler highlights the “pride and honor of receiving such a prestigious award and be recognized for our contribution to the Portugal-U.S. relations.” The Colquímica Adhesives CEO explains that “our aim is to position Colquímica Adhesives as a global player that promotes the growth and progress of every client and partner, so it is particularly relevant for us to be distinguished for the impact we are creating with our stakeholders.” Colquímica Adhesives had a turnover of $126 million in 2020, and currently counts more than 300 employees. With 93% of revenues from exports, the company is present in more than 65 countries and has a capacity of 143 million pounds of industrial adhesives per year, being one of the most important players on the global market.
